Image Systems Enhances Security and Efficiency with CodeMeter
CodeMeter Powers Image Systems' New Platform
The Challenge
With a legacy of innovation spanning over three decades, Image Systems embarked on a major product overhaul centered around its new TEMA platform. This ambitious project requires not only the development of cutting-edge image analysis technology but also robust IP protection measures to safeguard the company’s intellectual property.
Image Systems faced a formidable challenge as it transitioned from its established C++-based products to a Java-powered TEMA product platform. Balancing technological advancements with the need to protect valuable IP has been a key focus of this ambitious undertaking.
The Solution
To address the challenges of protecting its new Java-based TEMA platform and streamlining the licensing process, Image Systems selected CodeMeter. AxProtector Java was chosen to safeguard the software from reverse engineering and piracy. To minimize disruptions for OEM partners and end users, a self-service portal was implemented using CodeMeter’s automation tools. This portal allows customers to easily purchase licenses for specific software functionalities, with license management handled seamlessly in the background.
The Success
Image Systems’ transition to the TEMA platform is significantly accelerated by CodeMeter’s security solutions. The company has leveraged CodeMeter’s Java protection features to safeguard its new technology. CodeMeter License Central has unified license management for various distribution channels into a single, accessible platform.
To enhance user experience, Image Systems adopted a flexible approach to license delivery, initially using hardware dongles and later transitioning to software-based containers without additional investment. CodeMeter’s support for multiple license types facilitated this seamless change.
The customer-centric portal powered by CodeMeter License Central empowers end users to effortlessly activate specific software licenses, regardless of their purchase channel. This self-service platform, backed by automated processes, delivers a convenient and efficient licensing experience.
The Company
Image Systems originated as Innovative Vision in 1983, a spin-off from Linköping University in Sweden. Initially focused on high-speed camera technology, the company developed the Trackeye software for motion analysis to handle the generated data. To complement this, the Golden Eye Scanner was created to digitize film from analog high-speed cameras.
The company’s first motion analysis system was installed at Volvo in 1984 for crash testing, establishing a long-standing partnership. After being acquired by SAAB Combitech and subsequently spun off, Image Systems introduced the TEMA software for digital high-speed cameras in 2004. Interestingly, the Golden Eye Scanner, originally developed for internal use, was later commercialized for film restoration in the media industry.
Essentially, Image Systems has a rich history in motion analysis, starting with analog film and evolving to digital solutions while also developing hardware to support its software.
